BCK-IBI Group provided full programming, design, and construction administration services for the comprehensive rehabilitation of O'Connor and Johnson Halls at Binghamton University. The work involved detailed programming analysis that identified space needs for the conversion of dormitories into academic and administrative spaces.
A new four-story addition was constructed that links the two original dormitory buildings, creating a common entry that facilitates ADA access and promotes circulation. The project included renovation of the building envelope and interior finishes, interior reconfiguration, replacement of building MEP and roof systems, hazardous materials and asbestos abatement, site area redesign, and refurbishment of landscape and site features. We also selected sustainable products that are low maintenance, visually appealing, and within the set cost restraints determined by the client.
